Vegan Chocolate Protein Smoothie

It is HOT today in England. 33 Degrees hot! I don’t know about you but that’s hot enough for me to want to skip my morning routine of hot lemon water and a bowl of steaming porridge. Instead I decided to take the opportunity to make one of my old favourite smoothie recipes. It tastes like a dessert, is packed full off protein and takes all of two minutes to make. Perfect for a hot day! If you’ve got little ones running around, you can also pass this off as a chocolate milkshake – they’ll never know the difference!

To make this yummy chocolate smoothie, you will need:

  • 1 Banana, sliced
  • 3 tbsp raw cacao powder OR chocolate protein powder or chocolate meal replacement powder (these vegan ones from Arbonne are the best! )
  • Agave nectar to sweeten
  • One large handful of baby spinach
  • One large spoonful of peanut butter (Go for organic, no sugar, no salt, no palm oil – I love this one from Meridian)
  • A handful of ice cubes (I used 4)
  • 1 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk

The process is simple – blend your ingredients together, pour into a tall glass, and ENJOY! Don’t worry about following ingredients too closely. Smoothies are pretty foolproof. You can’t taste the spinach (really!) so don’t be afraid to add more. And honestly, I add as much peanut butter as I can because I’m just obsessed with my peanut butter. 😉

If you love your smoothie, post a picture or a comment in the section below. I love to hear from my readers! Keep cool out there! xo
